Attendance

At Sunningdale School, we know that regular attendance plays an important role in learning, development and achieving the best possible outcomes for our pupils. Being in school consistently helps pupils build relationships, develop independence, access specialist support and make progress towards their individual goals.

We also recognise that some of our pupils have complex medical needs, disabilities or other circumstances that can affect their ability to attend school regularly. We understand that the same attendance level may not be achievable for every pupil. We work closely with families and professionals to support each pupil to achieve the best attendance possible. We are reviewing our internal monitoring systems to ensure that unavoidable medical appointments and agreed medical absences are considered separately, providing a more accurate reflection of a pupil’s engagement with school.

Our Attendance and Family Support Guidance provides more information about our attendance procedures, how we can work together to support your child’s regular attendance and where families can find help if attendance becomes a concern.
