Travel & Transport

  • To qualify for home school transport, you must live in Sunderland local authority catchment area.
  • Transport is provided for children who are of reception age and above.
  • Transport is arranged and managed by Together for Children. Our transport manager is Paul Tomlin who can be contacted on 01915672284.
  • We currently have two transport runs in and out of school. The first run is 08.45am – 15.05pm. The second run is 09.05am – 15.25pm.
  • When transport arrives and departs school, children are collected from and taken to the vehicles by class staff.
  • All transport has a driver and escort who hold a valid DBS with the local authority.
  • Once your child has been allocated to a taxi run, the driver and escort will contact you to ask you about your child and discuss collection and drop off times. Questions may be asked in regards to; Does your child travel in a special car seat? Does you child become dysregulated when travelling? Does your child require carry medical equipment / medication to be transported?
  • The driver and escort will give you estimated pick and drop off times alongside a contact number for them should you need to get in touch.
  • If your child travels in a wheelchair they will require a specialist vehicle. Please notify transport and the school office straight away so they can be allocated to the correct taxi run.
  • If your child has a medical condition or uses special equipment where training may be necessary, please contact the transport manager. An example – your child has epilepsy, seizure training may be required with our school nurse.
  • If your child travels on oxygen and oxygen tanks need to be transported, please contact the transport manager and the school office.
  • If your child is going to be absent from school, please contact the transport manager so he can notify your child’s taxi.
