Class 3 - Gill Berry
Class 3
Spring Term 2
This half term has been all about books. We have had lots of different stories and rhymes.
We had the tale of Jack and the Beanstalk out on the sensory trail. We retold the story with puppets, going through the trees, up the beanstalk to the castle. Our favourite part was when the giant began to stamp and shout, "FEE FI FO FUM!!" He chased us back down the beanstalk.
"Jack go and sell the cow." A gi-normous beanstalk "Chop, chop, chop."
grew.
CRACK! CRASH! The giant was dead!
Spring term 1
Our theme this half term was Water, Water Everywhere!! And we certainly found and used lots of it.!!
We found water around school, although the hydro pool was empty! Very starnge. So we carried on swimming at Sandhill pool or Barbara Priestman pool instead. We did very well floating, splashing and going in the deep end.
Washing the minibus Jet cleaning our patio - very wet fun!
Shampoo Rinse Blow-dry
In school we washed ourselves and our hair. That was fun. We had shampoo bubbles and foam everywhere. Class 3 Hair Salon did a roaring trade.
We used water to cook, wash clothes and mix paints.
We made felt using wool and lots of soapy water. We had to roll and press it hard to make it flat and stick together.
Out and about we visited the river, lakes, pond and sea. The sea was really rough and the waves were crashing onto the prom. We nearly got wet!!
WINTER ENTERPRISE PROJECT.
As part of the Winter Festival we decided to make our own baubles. We went to look at christmas baubles in the shops and recoeded their colours, shapes and patterns. then we each chose a pattern and colour to design and decorate our own.
We also had some glass artists in school and they heped us to make glass tree decorations and coasters. We used tiny bits of glass and powder to decorate a tree and acoaster.
Next we followed a special chocolate recipe to make Chocolate Peanut Butter Slab and Winter Rocky Road Slab. We had to melt th e chocolate, mix in peanu butter or marshmallows, biscuits and cranberries. We gave them a good stir, poured the mixture into a tin and when it was set we cut it into pieces and then counted them into bags - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and then tied ribbon around them.
Our stall at the Winter festival did very well. We sold everything and we loved being shopkeepers.
Our first half term is finished already and the new class 3 are working and happy together.
Our theme for this half term was 'Countryside' and we have been out exploring the fields, woods and hills around us. We even managed to conquer the summit of Penshaw Hill and explore the Monument!!!
Our favourite story this half term has been 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. Everywhere we went became a 'Bear Hunt'! The school sensory trail became our Bear Hunt Trail. We even had a river as it had rained so much. We especially loved splashing through the river, through the mud and using the talking pegs to say the sound words.
Splash, splosh!! Squelch, squerch!!
This term we are swimming at Sandhill View pool and Barbara Priestman. We really enjoy our session and work hard.We all have a turn in the deep end and we are growing inconfidence as we swim with the frog floats and noodles.
