Sunningdale School is a community of over 100 members of staff, even more families and a whole range of stakeholders that range from our local church, St Mary’s and St Peters, right through to the Special Lionesses Parent Group, Together for Children and even national bodies such as EQUALS, The National Network of Special Schools and the Federation of Leaders of Special Education (FLSE).
Our staff team at Sunningdale is multi-disciplinary. It consists of professionals from education; health and social care all working together to provide the very best opportunities for our children to access learning.
Sunningdale school maintains very specific staffing ratios in classes. This is based on the specific and unique needs of individual pupils. We believe that our highly skilled staff are one of our greatest resources. Many of our staff are trained in specific therapies and approaches such as Attention Autism, Intensive Interaction, Rebound Therapy, Hydro Therapy, Play based learning, Semi-formal teaching, The Thrive Approach, Sound therapy, Pre-formal teaching, Sight reading strategies, Phonics, Lego Therapy, Soundbeam and many other specific approaches including some medical interventions.
At Sunningdale School all staff continue to develop their professional competencies and understanding through a range of internal and external Continued Professional Development opportunities. We are very lucky that at Sunningdale School we have a number of staff members that have specific expertise in areas as broad ranging as assessment to attachment, moving and handling to engagement and nurturing to mentoring.
